More Than a Medical Card

This partnership represents something much bigger than a certification.

For many veterans, medical cannabis has become an important wellness option that may help them manage chronic pain, PTSD symptoms, sleep difficulties, and other qualifying medical conditions under Arizona law. Every veteran deserves the opportunity to discuss those options with a qualified medical provider without financial barriers standing in the way.

Warrior Access Group exists to expand access to wellness, strengthen veteran communities, and connect veterans with meaningful resources that continue long after military service ends. Together, we’re helping remove one more obstacle for those who have already sacrificed so much for our country.

How Veterans Can Receive a Free Medical Marijuana (MMJ) Card

The eligibility criteria focus on veterans who have served honorably and have qualifying medical conditions recognized under Arizona law. Here’s what veterans need to know:

  • Must be a resident of Arizona

  • Must have an honorable discharge from the military

  • Must have a qualifying condition such as chronic pain, PTSD, cancer, or other state-approved ailments

  • Provide necessary documentation including military service records and medical history

What to Expect During the Az MMJ Certification Process

Veterans will undergo a medical evaluation with our licensed healthcare provider. This evaluation focuses on understanding the veteran’s health needs and determining if medical cannabis is a suitable treatment.

Once approved, veterans receive their MMJ Certification and our staff members will process your Arizona Department of Health Services MMJ application. We will submit all required information and documents along with process the state payment on behalf of the Veteran.

ADHS typically takes 2-3 business days to approve applications. Once approved veterans will have access to their 2-year MMJ Card.

Arizona Veterans Medical Marijuana Card Program through Warrior Access Group Veteran Sponsorship

Through the generous support of Warrior Access Group (WAG) and its donors, eligible Arizona veterans will have the cost of their office visit and Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) state fee fully covered.

Your WAG Sponsorship Includes:

Medical Marijuana Evaluation with an Arizona-Certified Physician

  • Meet with one of our licensed Arizona physicians for a comprehensive medical marijuana evaluation.

  • If you qualify under Arizona law, your physician will complete and issue your Medical Marijuana Physician Certification.

Office Visit Covered by Warrior Access Group

  • The cost of your medical marijuana evaluation/MMJ Certification office visit is paid for by Warrior Access Group.

  • Veterans pay nothing for their appointment when approved through the WAG sponsorship program.

Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) State Fee Covered

  • WAG also covers the required Arizona state application fee.

  • There is no out-of-pocket cost to the veteran for the office visit or state fee under this sponsorship.

  • If the Veteran receives Food Snap Benefits (SNAP) in the state of Arizona, we ask that they provide:

    • A copy of their EBT card showing the Veteran's name on the front or

    • Their most recent SNAP Benefit Award Letter, showing current eligibility.

  • Arizona offers a reduced ADHS application fee for SNAP recipients. When eligible Veterans provide this documentation, it allows WAG to maximize it's funding and help even more Arizona Veterans receive their MMJ card at no cost.

Application Assistance

  • Our team will assist you in completing and submitting your Arizona Medical Marijuana Card application to the Arizona Department of Health Services.

  • We’ll help ensure your application is complete and submitted correctly.

Warrior Access Group’s mission is to remove financial barriers to care. By covering both the office visit and the Arizona Department of Health Services state fee, WAG makes it possible for eligible veterans to receive their 2-year Arizona Medical Marijuana Card at no personal cost while our physicians provide the required medical evaluation and certification.

Understanding VA Benefits & Medical Marijuana

Many Arizona veterans worry that obtaining a Medical Marijuana Card could affect their VA healthcare or disability benefits. Fortunately, current VA policy provides important protections.

Your VA Benefits Are Protected

  • Participation in Arizona’s Medical Marijuana Program does not affect your eligibility for VA healthcare or VA benefits solely because you participate in the state program or use marijuana.

Talk With Your VA Healthcare Team

  • Veterans are encouraged to discuss medical marijuana use with their VA healthcare providers. These conversations help your care team identify possible medication interactions and provide the safest treatment possible. Your marijuana use may be documented in your confidential VA medical record as part of your overall treatment plan.

VA Providers Cannot Certify Arizona Medical Marijuana Cards

  • Because the VA follows federal law, VA healthcare providers cannot recommend medical marijuana, complete Arizona certification paperwork, or sign the forms required to obtain an Arizona Medical Marijuana Card. That’s where our licensed Arizona medical providers can help by completing your state-required evaluation and certification.

Important Rules Veterans Should Know

  • Marijuana may not be possessed or used on VA property or any other federal property.

  • Always follow Arizona Medical Marijuana laws and keep your Arizona Medical Marijuana Card current.

  • Never drive or operate machinery while impaired.

How This Partnership Supports Veterans and Their Families

The benefits extend beyond the veterans themselves. Families often play a crucial role in supporting their loved ones’ health journeys. Providing free Arizona Medical Marijuana (MMJ) Cards for Veterans through this partnership helps reduce financial stress, removes barriers to care, and gives veterans and their families greater peace of mind.

Veterans’ families can also learn about safe cannabis use, dosage, and product options through educational resources provided by Dispensaries across the state. This support helps create a stronger, informed community around veterans’ health.
